Beginner — Pick select words from the existing text on your book pages to create a simple altered book page spread.
Supplies
  • Hardback Book (Artist’s Own)
  • Soft Matte Gel Medium (Golden)
  • Black Acrylic Craft Paint (Anita’s Paints)
  • Foam Brushes (Artist’s Own)
  • Clear Circle Bubble Stickers (Jo-Ann Scrap Essentials)
  • Pencil (Artist’s Own)
  • Sticky Notes (Staples)
  • Scissors (Fiskars)
  • Flat-ended Tweezers (American Science & Surplus)
Instructions

1. Choose a page spread by skimming the text on the pages and finding words to highlight.

2. Reinforce the pages: Use gel medum to glue the the right page to 2-3 pages behind. Do the same for the left page of the spread.

3. Stick one small and one large bubble sticker to the front of a sticky note, so the “sticky” is positioned behind the sticker. Trace around the circle and cut out the sticky note circle within the traced circle.

4. Trace and cut out as many sticky note circles as there are words to highlight. Stick the circles over the words on the page.

5. Gently paint the entire page spread in black, being careful not to move the sticky note circles.

6. When page is mostly dry, pull sticky note masks from the page, using tweezers.

7. When page is completely dry, stick clear bubble stickers over masked words on page.
