This article contains projects for beginning and intermediate paper crafters.
Sick of boring rectangular cards? With one extra step, you can create easy cards
that make the recipient think you spent forever on them! Each project in this
article uses a different template, available to you for free, simply by
downloading the appropriate template and printing it at the desired size.
If you cut out and trace the template, keep a soft eraser nearby for removing any stray pencil marks. Another alternative is to print the
template directly to your cardstock, if your printer can handle the heavier cardstock paper. In that case, you may want to print on the “wrong” side of the card to eliminate stray marks on your finished product. Or get creative and rim the card with metallic marker or glitter to cover up your tracing lines.
This first card is a great card for a congratulatory note, perhaps with a sentiment such as “Good job!” or “Way to go!” inside. In this instance, though, it’s used as a generic greeting card for a gardening buff.
This card pops with a little bit of a wire embellishment to mimic the old-style telephone receiver cords.
If collage stamping is more your style, try this card, the ultimate in mail art! It even sports a little flag the recipient can move. Write your sentiment or note “inside” the card, behind the mailbox door.
Who doesn’t love receiving flowers? If you can’t afford to ship a bouquet, this happy little card might be a good alternative. The combination of the crystal stickers and the glitter really makes this card shine.
I’m always looking for stamping-related prep work that I can do while I’m watching TV in the evenings. These templates involve some pretty mindless tracing and cutting work, and if you take a bit of time set up a number of templates in one sitting (these four templates took less than 30 minutes to glue to sturdy cardboard and cut out), you’ll always have a fun-shaped card at the ready.
